In case you were unaware, water can be a fascinating subject to learn about. In fact, we have been thoroughly discussing the water cycle in class.

The water cycle is a subject specificly discussed in the TEKS.

• At the Water Cycle website you and your child can physically view a video which shows the water cycle process step by step. You can click on each phase of the water cycle to learn more about its purpose!
• At Droplet and the Water Cycle you will find a story explaining the water cycle in a more story-like form. Along with this story, you will also find a game you and your child can play together which helps further understanding of the water cycle.
  
• At Thirsten's Question and Answer Game You can help your child complete a twenty-five question interactive quiz to see just how much he/she really knows about water! Trust me, this is a quiz your child will want to take over and over!!!

Our class has been discussing living organisms and how they depend on one another.

Discussing living organisms and their interdependence is part of the TEKS.

Below you can find some FUN web sites where you and your child can explore, engage, and learn even more about living organisms and their needs.

• At the Interdependence Investigation site, you can help your child read about different species and scenarios, and then help them choose the correct answer to questions following the information you read! This game is fun because not only is it visually appealing and educational, but it is so much fun!!!

• If you click on the Food Chains and Webs link, you will find a page filled with interesting information about how what organisms eat all links together interdependently. Once you and your child read over the information you can click on a link at the bottom of the page and build your own food chain!!!

• At the Predator-Prey Relationships site, you will find a word find for you and your child to work on. Though this is a fun activity, you need to be sure and discuss predator/prey relationships with your child, and be sure they understand how they depend on one another!!!

We are currently discussing how to use proper safety precautions both at home and school. We have also been talking about why safety is so important.

Understanding why safety is important and how to prevent hazardous situations is addressed in the TEKS.

• At Zappa Tracker you and your child can play a video-like game where you are required to click on all the hazardous objects you see in the picture. This game is very entertaining, and allows students to not only have fun but truly show their knowledge of safety as well!!!

• Become a Jr. Fire Marshal is a place where your child can take a fun quiz dealing with fire safety, and then be able to download an official "Junior Fire Marshal Certificate" once they complete and pass the quiz!!! You and your child will absolutely LOVE this website!

• At Kid's Korner for Big Kids you and your child will be able to explore different safety symbols and learn what each one means. You can also use this site to find other fun games and activities dealing with safety. So hurry up and get to learning!!!

You can explore living organisms and their environments, what they need to survive, their life cycles, and even take FUN quizzes to check what you have learned!!!

This quiz is a fun way to make sure you and your child truly know the difference between living and non-living objects. What is even better about this quiz is that it is self checking, and automatically lets you know if your response is correct or incorrect! GOOD LUCK!!!



• If you have been wanting to play an active role in your child's learning, then this Living Vs. Non-Living Worksheet will be perfect for you!!! All you have to do is select five object of your choosing, then answer 4-5 questions about each object to figure out if thr objects selected are living or non living.
